A special word of congrats must go this week to our Fred Daly team and panel for their very good performances last week in the All Ireland series which was held in Dungarvan. First up was the semi final against Forest Little G.C. from Dublin which we won convincingly by a score line of 5&2. Then in the final we came up against Athenry. Unfortunatly after a very brave effort we had to give second best, but the scoreline of five & half to one & half does not do justice to some great golf that was played by our boys.This has been a great year for the club on the Junior front under the guidance of Joe Rouine, Pat O' Brien, Capt. Kieran Carroll and Danny O' Sullivan. We have no doubt that with the same effort next year that the All Ireland pennant will be in our trophy cabinet next year.
The veterans, both young and old were vying for honours at the weekend in the Veterans cup. With some fantastic scoreing being the order of the day.The results were as follows:
Veterans Cup 21/08/10
1st. Paddy Hogan 44pts.
2nd. Jim Galvin 43pts.
3rd. John O' Regan 39pts.
Our very first ProAm prooved to be a great sucess even though a delay due to fog caused all plans to be changed resulting in there having to be a shotgun start. Weather was beautiful with 44 teams and professionals taking part. Everyone was in great praise of the condition of the course. Congrats. to all committee members for such a sucessful event and also to the clubhouse staff for their trojan efforts with the hospilaty side of things for the day. This is the first of three annual events, so lets hope that comming two years will go from strength to strength. A special word of thanks to all who took part in the ProAm.
